Don’t Fold Out of Turn
This might seem like a small thing, but the small things add up in poker. When you fold your hand out of turn in live play, a couple of things happen that will possibly impact your play later down the line.
First, you’re being rude to your opponents. Folding out of turn is against the rules in most poker rooms, and if you fold out of turn in a tournament, you may find yourself facing a slight penalty from the floor – and, at a minimum, you’ll earn the ire of those you’re playing against.
Second, you’re broadcasting when you do have a hand. If you continually fold out of turn, guess what your opponents will realize when you don’t immediately muck your hand? They’ll know you intend to play and will adjust their actions accordingly – not a great state of affairs from players looking to execute an edge over their opponents.
