Have a plan for improvement

It’s one thing to say that you want to get better at poker.  Everyone says they want to get better at poker.

It is another thing entirely to do it.  That seems odd, because all it takes to get better at poker is work, and not terribly hard or difficult work at that.  If that’s the case, and it’s also the case that most people wish to improve at poker, then why are so many of those players stuck at the same skill level?

The answer is simple: they lack a plan.  Anyone with any measure of success at a project will tell you that attacking a project without a plan is basically relying on luck to get you through.  What you need is a plan to get better, because absent that plan the task of getting better will seem too abstract to be conquered, too imposing to even get started on, because if you do not have a plan, then you can’t possibly have a starting point.

Make sense?

Take an hour before your next session and jot down 5 leaks you know you want to work on, and a small plan for correcting each.  Also, consider writing down a resource or two you’ve been meaning to use and take time before or after your next session to check it out.
